Steinway & Sons

The Only Previously-Used Pianos Serviced, Warranted and Sold by Steinway & Sons

The Steinway Factory in New York is the only authorized center on earth for rebuilding Steinway pianos.  There are no "affiliates", "partners", or "factory-authorized rebuilers" other than the Steinway Factory in NYC.  There are many proprietary components and methods used in the manufacture and rebuilding of Steinway pianos that are simply unavailable to anyone else.  You may read very romantic stories of multi-generational families of piano rebuilding "expertise" or mythological diatribes about "golden era" Steinways, but the truth of the matter is:

"UNLESS A STEINWAY IS REBUILT WITH 12,188 GENUINE STEINWAY PARTS BY THE STEINWAY FACTORY, IT IS NO LONGER A STEINWAY PIANO."

A Steinway piano is the sum of all of its components. Over 160 years of innovation and refined expertise makes new Steinway pianos the overwhelming choice of 97% of the world's professional pianists.

All of the previously-used pianos, including restored Steinways you will find at each of the Steinway Piano Galleries in Chicagoland, have been meticulously inspected by our experienced technicians, have been approved by the Steinway & Sons Factory for resale, and include a factory warranty from Steinway & Sons. In addition to providing the best used Steinway pianos possible, we also pride ourselves on our customer service. Our goal is to turn what can often be a frustrating and costly journey into an enjoyable and exciting experience in finding the perfect piano for your needs and budget.

A Piano is a very complex piece of equipment.  No other instrument or piece of furniture sustains 40,000 pounds of constant tension for decades.  A piano does!  Since a piano is comprised of over 12,000 parts of varying sizes, strengths, and delicateness, there are many things that can potentially go wrong if a used piano has not been well maintained by its previous owner.  Though you may feel that you can trust someone you meet on craigslist, at a local retailer, or a friend or neighbor who has an old piano they'd like to get rid of, you will be taking a great risk...one that you may later regret.  You may also see myriads of used Steinway pianos on the internet at, what seem to be, very attractive prices.  Rest assured, if they were THAT good, piano dealers would have purchased them long before you ever saw that advertisement.

At Steinway Piano Gallery, we reject many weekly offers that come to us from individuals seeking to sell their piano to us.  We do so because there are many aging and/or low-quality instruments that we simply cannot, and will not, offer for sale to our customers as a result of these instruments failing to meet our quality standards.  Since you will most likely only purchase one piano in your lifetime, we feel that it is a great responsibility of ours to make the process as easy, comfortable, and enjoyable as possible.

Therefore, every previously-used piano at Steinway Piano Gallery is thoroughly inspected, tested, and serviced to make sure it will perform flawlessly for you for years to come.

If we do not have the piano you are looking for right now, we will find it!
