Steinway of Chicago was founded over 55 years ago. In 1950 it was awarded the Allen Organ franchise, and is now the oldest Allen Organ dealer in the world. The Steinway & Sons dealership was awarded in 1988. Since then, the company has been recognized by winning nearly every Steinway Partnership award in its category.

In May 2008, Jordan Kitt's Music Acquired 100% ownership of Steinway of Chicago.

Founded in 1912, Jordan Kitt's Music is based in College Park, Maryland and is the largest retailer of keyboards (pianos, organs and electronic keyboards) in the United States. Jordan Kitt's is a family owned and professionally managed business whose mission is to ensure that the purchase and subsequent use of their instruments be a pleasant and totally satisfying experience for all of their customers. Presently the company owns and operates 11 keyboard stores in six metropolitan markets: Chicago, Atlanta, Baltimore, Richmond, Virginia Beach and Washington, D.C.
